JIRI STIVIN "Alchymia Musicae" (CZE,1995)

Seeking new passages towards both future and past, this work tests the flexibility of medieval/renaissance/baroque forms in their fusional or transformative coexistence with the angular directions of modern composition and freejazz.
Czech composer Jiri Stivin engages a jazz trio, a string quartet and a vocal ensemble to give life to his vision. Himself plays flutes, clarinets, saxophones... and calls this ambitious, daring or at least humourous plan, ALCHYMIA MUSICAE.

Listen to it HERE (7tracks, 1hour).
