Thanks for such great variety.

I thought I should mention that "Soul Note" was their label when presenting white artists.
"Black Saint" was the name when the artists were black.
A little odd...

Not correct about Soul Note for white artists, Black Saint for black artists. Go and look at their catalogues again.

Cecil Taylor, Max Roach, Andrew Hill, Art Blakey and Archie Shepp are not usually considered "white artists".
Although Paul Bley, Steve Lacy, Lee Konitz,and Ran Blake are.
Point is, it was nothing to do with race.
Billy Harper was incidentally, the first artist on both labels
